Where to send your Medicare cancellation letter

Read the addresses on this page next to the full guide to cancelling Medicare.

The addresses we hold

The address a cancellation letter to Medicare needs, and every other address we hold, starting in Baltimore: copy the lines exactly and the envelope sorts itself.

Where the letter goesMailing address

Medicare750 Security BlvdBaltimore, MD 21244

Medicare takes its post at this Maryland address (ZIP 21244).

How to address the envelope

  1. Copy the address exactly

The front of the envelope carries 750 Security Blvd, Baltimore, MD 21244 and nothing else in the address block. Check the 21244 digit by digit before it goes in the post.

  2. Add the return address

Print your return address in the top-left corner. Without it, an undeliverable letter is simply lost instead of returned to you.

  3. Send it by certified mail

Ask at the counter for the certified service with a return receipt: the fee is on top of the postage, the receipt is postmarked, and the article number traces the delivery.

  4. File the receipt with your copy

The postmarked receipt, the tracking record and your signed copy of the letter are the set that proves the request; with Part B coverage ends at the end of the month after the request is filed (e.g. filed April 5, ends May 31), the set is what the dates are read from.

Your letter to Medicare

What the letter to Medicare says: one clear cancellation request, no reasons given, the policy number, the name on the policy and the date you want cover to end quoted, and a request for written confirmation.
