What delivery proof do I get?
Short answer
Your letter goes by USPS Certified Mail with Return Receipt. When the company signs for it, we email you the signed delivery proof, which shows who received your letter and on which date.
What you receive
- The tracking number, by email on the day your letter is mailed.
- A copy of the letter we mailed, attached to that same email.
- The signed delivery proof, by email once the company signs for your letter.
What the proof shows
Certified Mail gives a mailing receipt and confirms that a letter was delivered, or that a delivery attempt was made. Return Receipt adds evidence of delivery: to whom the letter was delivered and the date of delivery.
How to use it
Keep the proof with your copy of the letter. If the company says it never got your request, or a charge appears after the delivery date, the proof is the record you point to.
What it does not show
Delivery proof shows that the company received your letter. It does not show that the company acted on it. That is why we follow up to confirm your cancellation went through.
Letters to companies outside the United States
Certified Mail and Return Receipt are USPS services. Letters to companies in other countries go by local post there, and the record available depends on that country’s postal service.
