What this means when you cancel
Check the contract against the statute
Start with the paper you signed. List its length, its notice period and the address for notices, then read the matching points of the Connecticut law so you know where you stand.
Say which law you rely on
Name Conn. Gen. Stat. sections 21a-216 to 21a-227 in your letter and say which right you are using, such as the cancellation period or a condition the statute lists. A club that sees the statute named knows you have read it.
Use certified mail for the notice
Mail the letter by Certified Mail with Return Receipt and keep the receipt. How to cancel a gym membership by mail walks through each step.
File your copies and watch your statements
Do not throw anything away yet. Store the contract, your letter, the mailing receipt and any confirmation until you have seen a statement with no further charge.
Send your notice early. In Connecticut the dates in the statute and in your contract both count, and a late letter can cost you another billing cycle.
Send your cancellation by certified mail
Tell us the company you want to leave. We write a formal cancellation letter, mail it by certified mail the next business day and send you the delivery proof.
