What this means when you cancel

  1. Compare your contract with the statute

Put your contract on the desk next to Utah Code sections 13-23-102 and 13-23-103. Write down the term, the notice rule and any cancellation address, and check whether the statute gives you a right the contract does not mention.

  2. Write the statute into the letter

Refer to Utah Code sections 13-23-102 and 13-23-103 by name, say plainly that you are cancelling under it and ask the club to confirm the cancellation in writing.

  3. Send the signed letter with proof

Use certified mail, not a regular stamp. You want a postmarked receipt and a delivery record that you can show if the club says it never received your notice.

  4. File your copies and watch your statements

Do not throw anything away yet. Store the contract, your letter, the mailing receipt and any confirmation until you have seen a statement with no further charge.

Send your cancellation by certified mail

Tell us the company you want to leave. We write a formal cancellation letter, mail it by certified mail the next business day and send you the delivery proof.
